Dairy Inspection

Inspection interval

NIFCC carry out routine surveillance inspections against the ADF standard on dairy farms at approximately 17 month intervals.  Compliance with the standard allows milk on inspected holdings to be marketed as ‘farm assured’.

Inspection scope

The assessor shall send an appointment card to the producer detailing the proposed date and time of the inspection.  The inspection process normally takes 2-3 hours but may take longer if the ADF standard is being inspected in conjunction with the Farm Quality Assurance Scheme for Beef/Lamb.

In the scope of the ADF assessment and certification, all cattle, facilities and records relating to the milk production enterprise on the holding will be inspected.

Inspection format

Further information about the requirements can be found in the ADF Standard. The following 8 sections will be included in the inspection:

  1. Hygiene and Food Safety
  2. Housing and Facilities
  3. Plant and Equipment
  4. Feedstuffs and Water
  5. Herd Health
  6. Stockmanship and Training
  7. Contingency Procedures
  8. Environmental Protection and Security
