In this the inspector will ask the producer about the use of chemicals on the farm including disposal of unused chemicals and their containers.

Effluent control will also be checked on all areas of the holding to ensure that effluent is channelled correctly to the collection facility if necessary and adequately collected. Details on adequate protection of such can be found on Preventing Access to Effluent Storage and Similar Areas of Farm information sheet.

This applies to areas such as (if applicable):

• Slurry lagoon
• Slurry storage
• Yard midden
• Field midden

The producer will be asked about the procedure on the holding for spreading manures and fertilisers and also the storage of fertiliser.
