Feed
The storage areas and mixing equipment used for meal will be inspected to ensure contamination is prevented, and the feeding areas must provide enough trough space to accommodate all animals as needed.  Storage areas for moist feeds will also be inspected to ensure effluent is adequately controlled. 

There are associated documents to be inspected in this section as follows:

1. Up to date Feed Plan– covering all categories of stock in all seasons
2. ADF Warranty letter – covers purchased feedstuffs such as roots, forages, human food waste and farm to farm transactions
3. Home mixing number – if applicable
4. Records and samples of home mixed feedstuffs
5. Delivery/summary documents for all purchased feeds

Calf nutrition
The procedure for feeding calves, the suitability of the diet and the provision of water during illness and hot weather will be assessed.

Water
Fresh, clean drinking water must be supplied in an adequate number of water troughs which are suitably sited, both at pasture and in housing, and at the suitable height for the animals using the accommodation to enable access and minimise fouling.
