Dairy

Inspections

Red Tractor sets standards for dairy producers and their holdings in order for the milk produced there to be potentially classified as ‘farm assured’. Compliance with the standard is checked by farm inspection every 18 months by NIFCC. Producers may be subject to spot check visits some of which may be unannounced as part of Red Tractor’s risk based approach to inspections.

Only milk produced to Red Tractor standards may be marketed as Red Tractor assured.

Membership

The scheme is primarily a First Purchaser scheme, whereby the First Purchaser joins, pays the appropriate fees, and accepts the obligation to have their supplying producers assessed in accordance with the Red Tractor standard and operational rules.
