Non Conformance Analysis
Approximately 74% of NIBL FQAS farm inspections currently result in some type of non-conformance which requires remedial action on behalf of the participant. At first glance, this seems to be a very high proportion of farm inspections during which non-conformances are identified. However, to put it into perspective, there are 96 individual Codes in the NIBL FQAS Product Standard. Therefore, with 26% of NIBL FQAS inspections demonstrating full compliance with all 96 Codes, this is a commendable achievement by these participants.
The 10 most commonly occurring non-conformances raised during NIBL FQAS farm inspections during the 12-month period 1 November 2006 to 31 October 2007 are as follows:
Code | Description | % of inspections |
1.6 | Common veterinary operations e.g. disbudding calves | 24 |
2.14 | Veterinary Medicine records | 20 |
5.2 | Repairs required to livestock buildings | 13 |
3.17a | Feed records | 10 |
7.2 | Minor repairs to farm waste storage facilities | 10 |
| 2.2 | Confirmation of veterinary visit in previous 12 months | 9 |
| 7.1b | General Farm Tidiness | 8 |
| 4.2b | Flock Records | 8 |
| 3.16 | Declaration of feed ingredients retained | 7 |
| 4.2 | Herd Records | 7 |
