Medicine Storage
The inspector will ask to see the veterinary medicines that you store on farm and will check a sample of medicines to ensure that they are within their expiry dates.
The inspector will ask to see the following:
- A locked medicine storage facility
- A sharps container for the storage and disposal of used medicine bottles, syringes and needles
Veterinary Medicine Documentation
At the time of the inspection you will be asked to provide the follwing documentation:
Cattle/Sheep Animal Health Plan that has been reviewed in the last 12 months (Pages 28-29 of FQAS Product Standard)
Confirmation of a farm visit by a Vet in the last 12 months or alternatively the Animal Health Plan could be reviewed by a Veterinary Surgeon
Broken Needle Protocol signed and dated (Page 31 of the FQAS Standard)
The Safe Use of Medicine Code signed and dated (Page 9 in the New Veterinary Medicine Record Book)
Completed purchase and usage sections in the New Veterinary Medicine Record Book
