Animal Nutrition
During the farm inspection the inspector will ask about any feedstuffs that are fed to cattle/sheep. They will look to see where the meal or straights are stored to ensure that this area is free from contamination and that meal is correctly identified.
Details of the manufacturer and distributer of feedstuffs will be required to check that they are registered with the Universal Feed Assurance Scheme (UFAS).
Home-Mixing
If a producer is home-mixing (when 2 feestuffs are mixed, 1 containing Vitamins or Minerals), then they should have the following:
- Home-mixing License Number
- Written list of ingredient composition for the home-mixed diet
- NFU Code of Practise for on-farm mixers signed and dated (Page 34-36 FQAS Standard)
Feed Record Documentation
At the time of the inspection you will also be asked to provide the follwing documentation:
- Completed Feed Records (Green FQAS Booklet)
- Ingredient Composition Lists for any cattle/sheep meal purcahsed in the last 18 months
- Warranty declaration form completed by the supplier of crop product/by-product (Page 37 in FQAS Standard)
- Confirmation that pruchased/home-grown grain is certified in the NI Farm Quality Assured Cereals Scheme e.g. a grain passport
