Beef Labelling Audit
The scheme requires verification of labelling information, by tracing back through recorded data and in addition, confirmation of the adequacy of controls in place to guarantee the accuracy of the claim through all stages of the supply chain between the labelled beef and the animal from which it came.
The applicant is required to operate an appropriate control system at all stages of production and marketing, and to maintain the requisite records to prove that the label is true.
The following are claims that may require verification at the time of the audit:
Region (e.g. Northern Ireland)
Farm Assured (FQA, FQAS etc.)
Breed (e.g. Aberdeen Angus,Hereford)
Maturation (e.g. 21 days)
Gender (steer, heifer, young bull etc.)
Production system (e.g. grass fed)
Slaughter method (e.g. Halal, Kosher)
