Veterinary Medicine Records
1st May 2007
New Veterinary Medicine Record Books have been distributed to all scheme members with the FQAS Newsletter

By now all participants of the Northern Ireland Beef and Lamb Farm Quality Assurance Scheme (NIBL FQAS) should have received their copy of the revised and improved Veterinary Medicine Book. Participants are requested to commence using this new book whilst retaining existing medicine records for inspection purposes. It is a legal requirement that veterinary medicine records are kept for a minimum period of three years. The main amendments are as follows:
- A sample entry has been provided on each page
- The purchase section is highlighted in blue and the usage section highlighted in green
- The purchase section has been moved to the front of the record book to provide a more logical sequence of recording
- A separate column has been included in the purchase section for recording the quantities of medicines purchased
In the past, incomplete veterinary medicine records have been the most commonly occurring non-conformance. The new book has been designed to be more user-friendly which will hopefully improve this situation.
