Revised Cattle/Sheep Welfare Codes

At your next farm inspection the NIFCC farm inspector will ask to see a copy of the revised Cattle and/or Sheep Welfare Codes

FQAS members will be aware that it is a requirement of the Scheme that they have a copy of the DARD Welfare Codes for Cattle and/or Sheep and that these have been signed and dated by the stockperson to indicate that he/she has read and understood them.

Copies of the Cattle / Sheep Welfare Codes are available, free of charge, by the following methods:

• Collection from any one of DARD’s ten local Divisional Veterinary Offices;
• Download from the DARD website (www.dardni.gov.uk);
• From DARD Veterinary Service staff (for example on farm or at markets);
• Download from the Publications section on the NIFCC Website

During farm inspections, you will be asked for your copies of the relevant Welfare Codes by the farm inspector to check that they have been signed and dated.  Further information regarding the Welfare Codes can be obtained from your local Divisional Veterinary Office.
