The site and facilites used at the market should be maintained to ensure that no harm or injury is caused to livestock.

The inspector will check the following:-

• all pens are adequate for the animals that are in them
  
  
  
• surfaces in the markets where animals move, are non-slip
  
  
  
• areas where livestock have access within the market, are free from sharp objects and protrusions

• if required a suitable supply of clean water & feed

   

• suitable loading/unloading facilites are available

• the livestock market should is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, using approved disinfectants

• an identified isolation facility is available
